Adobe Creative Cloud: Turkey trick exposed after a while!

In June last year I wrote to you in the article “Use Turkish Adobe Creative Cloud offer and save over 85% (without VPN)“showed how you can secure access to all Adobe apps for under 8 euros per month. Since then, there have been repeated comments and updates on the topic, such as the apparently now necessary use of a VPN when carrying out the “Turkey trick”. But now I've come across this myself: Adobe informed me in an email that the apps usage was detected in Germany and that I should therefore pay the local price from next month. I say: Bye, Photoshop!

Step-by-step instructions for breastfeeding with the emeibaby carrier: Cancel your Adobe Creative Cloud subscription: Here's how!

Excerpt from the email from Adobe informing me that the Turkey trick for the cheap Creative Cloud subscription was exposed. Now I have to pay the full price for the German subscription. But I'd rather quit. I edited this image with Affinity Photo anyway.

Adobe in Germany instead of Turkey: 66,45 euros instead of 7,32 euros per month

It took a little over half a year until Adobe finally determined from the analysis of the usage data that I was only using the subscription booked via the Turkish website in Germany. Today I received an email about this, the content of which translated reads as follows:

Dear John,
We hope you enjoy Creative Cloud All Apps (100Gb). We would like to share an important update with you regarding your subscription price. You purchased your subscription with Turkey as the purchase country. However, your subscription was mainly used in Germany. In order to continue using your subscription, you must subscribe to it at the current price for Germany.
To avoid disruption to your work, we will move you to a new subscription within the next 30 days that specifies Germany as your country of use and your plan's applicable subscription price. The new subscription terms will be the same as the terms under which you subscribed, except for the price. The price of Creative Cloud All Apps (100Gb) changes from TRY 159 plus 18,0% tax/month to EUR 55,84 plus 19,0% tax/month.
You can cancel your current subscription by going to Adobe Account or by contacting customer service. If you have any questions about these changes or would like to discuss additional plan/pricing options, please contact customer service directly. If you do nothing, your new subscription will begin within the next 30 days. After that, you have 14 days to cancel the subscription and receive a full refund.
Your new subscription will automatically renew for one year at the standard rate until you cancel (prices are subject to change). You will also receive a confirmation email with the detailed subscription terms and conditions.
If you believe that Adobe has misjudged your country, please contact Customer Support who will be happy to assist you.
Thank you for being a valued customer!

Possible precaution: Permanently use a VPN with a Turkey server

A possible approach to prevent this problem would have been to permanently use a VPN service with Turkey servers. The whole thing could probably have been set up so that the operating system and selected other apps use the regular connection to the Internet, while only Adobe Creative Cloud is connected via Turkey. But I have neither thought of it nor will I now try to set it up that way and give Adobe any made-up reasons for the previously established use of the offer in Germany. I'll make it easy for myself and say: Bye, Photoshop (as well as After Effects, Premiere Pro and Co.).

Received an email from Adobe today – I also say goodbye. I've been working with affinity programs for a long time anyway. I can only recommend.

    1. Hello Kai-Uwe,

If you use the Creative Cloud primarily for Photoshop, graphic design and/or desktop publishing, then switching to the Affinity apps can be really worthwhile. I have been using Affinity Photo for years and am satisfied.

      Best regards
      John

  2. Thank you for this extremely quickly created article. This morning I was also shocked by exactly this email from Adobe. Then it will probably happen to some others too. All I have left for now is termination. I think I'll take a look at Serif (Affinity V2).

    1. Hello Adrian,

yes, check out Serif. I can definitely recommend the Affinity Apps (even if it takes a bit of getting used to).

      Best regards
      John

  3. PS: as an addition to my comment above. To everyone who is now affected by this and cancels: please remember to redeem any remaining 'plan credits', i.e. the credit points for audio, video and image licenses, before canceling. The licensed media or licenses continue to be valid even after termination (unless different regulations apply for special licensing). However, the remaining credit points expire after the subscription expires/cancellation.

    1. Hi,

I also received the email today. Is it possible to terminate the subscription early?
I logged in today and canceled my subscription. But it expires in December.

  4. I also received the email. Do I still have to pay these 650 euros for half the year? I have now canceled the subscription. Expect me to cost?

    1. Hi Leon,

During the cancellation process, you have probably already paid the amount due for the early cancellation (if it was an annual account). For me it looked like this: Contribution to Creative Cloud cancellation. As far as I know, Adobe hasn't written anything about a penalty anywhere. The email was only about changing the subscription to the local price. And the cancellation process only involves the early termination fee.

In short: As far as I know, you don't have to worry about any additional payments. All costs incurred should have been communicated during the cancellation process.

      Best regards
      John

    2. Hi Leon,

I have the same problem. I called support. You must cancel your subscription and no further fees will be charged. You can continue to use Adobe until your subscription expires.

If you are unsure, log in to the German website and click on the chat icon at the bottom right. Describe your problem and write. At some point the multiple options will appear. Then select subscription / bill (that's how it was for me). Then you choose whether you would like to clarify the matter by telephone. You will receive a call within the next 5 – 10 minutes.

  5. Hi John,

many thanks for the answer! When I canceled I didn't see anything about a fee. My subscription now expires in June. Did I do something wrong? I followed your instructions exactly.

    Regards
    Leon

    1. Hi Leon,

Unfortunately I can't remotely diagnose what you did differently. But if the subscription doesn't expire until June, you probably just didn't renew the annual subscription - i.e. didn't end the current subscription early.

I can imagine that the price increase announced in the email will now take effect and you will have to pay more from next month.

You may find an option to cancel your subscription immediately. There should still be one or two options in the subscription overview. Unfortunately I can't help; I have now deleted my Adobe account and no longer have access to the account options.

      Best regards
      John

    2. Update: Since I paid for the whole thing in advance as an annual subscription, I can now use my subscription for free until June 👍🏻

  6. It hit me too. Since I only completed my subscription in November, I would now have to pay 858,60 Turkish lira if I canceled it early.
But it also says – “If you do nothing, your new subscription will begin within the next 30 days. After that, you have 14 days to cancel the subscription and receive a full refund.”

So it would be wiser to wait until you switch to the new subscription and then cancel within 14 days to get a full refund for the first month - right?

    1. Hello Frido,

Yes, that's right. I didn't want to risk it myself and preferred to pay the few euros (admittedly, it was less than yours) instead of having to deal with possible refund problems.

But I would be happy if you would leave a comment with the corresponding procedure after the subscription change and refund. Then we have a complete picture with the article and the various testimonials underneath :)

      Best regards
      John

  7. Hello, unfortunately I also received the email, I took out an annual subscription in October 2023 where I paid the full amount in advance. Now I canceled my subscription, as in your instructions, and have now received an email that my account will expire in October 2024.
Do I have to pay attention to anything else or worry about costs?

    1. Hello Sergen,

Since I'm just a user and don't have any further insights than those already shown, I can't give you an exact answer. However, you can contact Adobe Support. They should be able to give you more detailed information there.

      Best regards
      John

  8. Hi
It says to me that the next payment is due on March 13th, but in ₺190,80, although the well-known email from Adobe came that the price will change after 30 days, i.e. on March 9th.

I would recommend waiting! (You have 14 days to return the item after the price changes)

Has day X already happened for someone? It would be interesting to know whether Adobe will actually follow through with this. So far nothing has been changed in the system.

    Best Regards

  9. ... it worked like this for me. Yesterday the switch from a Turkish subscription to a German subscription from Adobe was completed.
First around 5 euros were debited for March, then the Turkish subscription was canceled by Adobe, then the German subscription was created by Adobe and the 66 euros were debited.
I then canceled the German subscription and first the 5 euros were refunded and this morning the 66 euros.

By the way, when I canceled the German subscription, Adobe offered me to keep the cloud for 29,99 euros + VAT for the first year. But I declined because I already have a subscription.
That expired in November and I would then have to pay 66 euros per month. So I tried the Turkish subscription in my wife's name. When that worked, I canceled my subscription (without getting any cheap offers). When I reactivated my old subscription, I was also offered 29,99 euros + VAT for one year.

Since I work with the cloud for my job and there is no alternative to it because of data exchange with my customers, this is a good offer for me. So I’m leaving the “experiment” with a positive conclusion ;-)

  10. This is how you make such clever workarounds known :/.
It worked for 8 years, no one complained. People started spreading the word and now we have the results.
Nothing but thanks to the author…

    1. Thanks for the criticism. There have already been a few videos about it and I believe that not only individual people should benefit from such solutions. If Adobe notices this and does something about it, it's annoying, but I don't think it's okay if only a few people benefit from tips like this.

  11. My subscription was due on March 22.03nd. should be extended. I can also no longer make a payment or delete/terminate my account. A credit card is no longer accepted for payment here.
    Anyone experienced the same thing?

To be honest, I don't know anymore whether I should just leave the account as it is or whether I need to take action... oh man. The info email was completely lost on me ._.-

  12. Hello! i
I received the same message from Adobe, but in January 2024. Is there any information about how to use the Turkish account via VPN and whether it works? Or what if I pay for the whole year in advance?
Kind regards and if possible please reply :)
