Clear Google search history: here's how!

Below you will find instructions on how to clear Google search history, which you can use to clear the search history in the Google account. This can be done either as a comprehensive clean-up action or specifically for certain periods of time, days and so on. The first instruction aims at the procedure in the browser on Apple Mac and Windows PC. This is followed by iOS devices (iPhone, iPod and iPad) and then Android devices (smartphone and tablet).

Clear Google Account search history on Mac and PC

  1. Call up the Google homepage in the browser (click here)
  2. If you haven't already done so, sign in with a Google account
  3. Right down on Settings here
  4. In the menu that opens Minutes here
  5. On the side my activities the menu item Delete activities after choose file
  6. Select search history period and click Delete here
  7. Ready

Clear Google search history in iOS

  1. Call up Google in your browser first
  2. If not logged in, log in
  3. Down on Settings tippen
  4. In the menu that appears Search settings choose file
  5. Under the point Search history on Delete tippen

Clear Google History on Android (Browser)

  1. Call up Google in the browser (e.g. Chrome)
  2. On Settings tap at the bottom of the page
  3. On my activities Tap on the three dots in the top right corner
  4. Select the time period for deleting the Google queries
  5. Delete Google queries with a tap Delete to confirm

Empty search history on Android (Settings)

  1. Open Android settings
  2. Tap your way along the path Google -> Account -> Personal data & privacy
  3. Under Activity settings the point Web & app activities choose file
  4. On Manage history tap and in the menu at the top right Delete activities after choose
  5. Select the period and press to confirm Delete tippen

More privacy as a clear advantage

Not only are all search queries from Google saved that you make while you are logged in with the corresponding account. The manufacturer and model of that device are also saved; as well as the date and time of your request. In addition, activities on other websites, such as Facebook and Amazon, are recorded to a certain extent by the search engine operator.
