What restrictions will there be?

When iOS 17 came out last year, there were already iOS functions that required at least an iPhone 12. With iOS 18, the restrictions on some new functions become even more severe. Because “Apple Intelligence”, Apple’s foray into AI functionalities on its own devices, will only be usable from the iPhone 15 Pro onwards. At least when it comes to on-device use, which doesn't require sending requests to a server. In addition, Apple Intelligence will initially only be a beta and will be available in US English.

But there are further restrictions: For messages and SMS via satellite, at least an iPhone 14 is required. This is logical, since previous generations do not have the necessary technology. Live audio transcription, for example for phone calls, requires at least an iPhone 12. You can find further functions and their possible restrictions on the official preview page from iOS 18.
