Little Fingers: Mac keyboard lock for kids and cats

Little kids, cats, or tiny kittens can be quite a joke on the Mac keyboard and trackpad on the MacBook. Little Fingers is an app for macOS on the Apple Mac, which should leave the keyboard and pad unmolested by children's hands and cat paws when watching children's series, making FaceTime phone calls with the family and when using it unattended. With the key combination Shift + Ctrl + Alt + Cmd + L, the keys are locked and released so that nothing is unintentionally changed, created, deleted, sent or terminated.

Watch a children's series without exiting full-screen mode or suddenly having programs open? This is possible with the Little Fingers app, because it locks the keyboard and trackpad against children's hands and cat paws;)

Shaun Inman Mac software

Shaun Inman is a designer and developer based out of Chattanooga, Tennessee. He developed the Little Fingers app for macOS because he wanted to make it impossible for his son Lincoln to use the keyboard and trackpad with certain uses of the Apple Mac. First he - as anyone else would do - looked for such an app or a macOS command for this purpose on Google, but found nothing. So he programmed the software himself:

Yesterday, after a quick Google, I wondered aloud on Twitter if there was a Mac app that could disable all keyboard and trackpad input via key command. There wasn't so I made one. I call it Little Fingers.

In addition, the developer assures on the above-mentioned page and with the provision of the code on GitHub that the program only listens to the key combination Shift + Ctrl + Alt + Cmd + L (⇧ ^ ⌥ ⌘ L) and does not spy on any other activities as a request for action used or recorded.

  1. I stupidly clicked on “don't allow” after downloading and starting the app and I don't know how to undo this now to use the app. Does anyone have a hint

    1. I think under System Settings → Input Monitoring → and then activate the slide switch for “Little Fingers”.
