Pokémon TV Alternatives: Where can you watch Pokémon content?

As of today, Thursday, March 28, 2024, the “Pokémon TV” streaming service will be discontinued on the pokemon.com website (or pokemon.de) and in the offering’s mobile apps. In the future, it will no longer be possible to stream series, films and similar content via the official Pokémon website. App downloads have been removed from the various stores since January 8, 2024. Apps that were already installed could still be used. This is now no longer possible. However, there are some alternatives to watching Pokémon entertainment - and I'll show you them in this guide.

As of today, the streaming offer called Pokémon TV can no longer be used. You can find alternatives here. This also includes an opportunity to watch Pokémon series and films for free and without requiring an account! Image source: press material from pokemon.com

Pokémon content for free and without a subscription on YouTube

The first stop for Pokémon content that you can watch for free and without the need for an account on any streaming service is of course YouTube. There is the official Pokémon channel, which clearly presents the various content in its playlists. Although there is little TV and no film content, there is some bonus material that fans can enjoy in addition to the series and films. Here it's long.

Toggo: Pokémon series and films for free and without an account!

But if you look beyond the well-trodden Google path, i.e. outside of YouTube, you will find other free offers without requiring an account. The Toggo website, which is designed for children, offers e.g. B. various series and Pokémon movies that you simply have to click on and let play. Without any costs or login. However, the content is then only available in German, not in English or Japanese. Here you can find the Toggo offer.

Pokémon series and films on RTL+

RTL+ has a wide variety of series and films from the Pokémon franchise. In addition to new fans, everyone who has been with Ash and Pikachu since the beginning will also get their money's worth. In addition to the “Indigo League” series and other shows, there is also the first film “Mewtwo vs. Mew” and newer cinema films. Here you get to the entire overview.

Pokémon content on Netflix

You can also find a few of the anime series on Netflix, such as “Indigo League”, “Journeys”, “Master Journeys”, “Ultimate Journeys” and so on. There's also the film "Detective Pikachu" and the Netflix-exclusive series "Pokémon Concierge." Because of the latter alone, a subscription (or at least a free trial subscription) can be worthwhile. Here go to Netflix. Here to the content overview at Flixable.

The Pokémon Channel on Prime Video

There are only a few series and film offers included in the Amazon streaming service Prime Video. However, the majority can only be borrowed or purchased with an extra payment. However, there is also the Pokémon Channel, which you can (or must) book in order to watch the various series and films from the Pokémon world without individual surcharges. There is the option to use the channel for free for seven days, after which it costs €3,99 per month (in addition to the Prime subscription). Here there's all the information.

Pokémon DVDs and BluRays

Anyone who relies on online streaming services naturally has to accept that the license rights for the streaming content expire here and there. If the offer on one page is no longer available, you may have to switch to the next. It may happen that an additional account and an associated subscription are necessary. If you don't feel like that and also want to retain access to the Poké media offline, you can buy the corresponding DVDs and BluRays. Here is the selection on Amazon.
